What is Rick Harrison’s net worth?
With a net worth of $9 million, Rick Harrison is a reality TV star and American business owner. He belongs to the Harrison family, which manages the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their family’s fame escalated due to the reality show “Pawn Stars,” which documents the various antics and happenings at their pawn shop.
Early Life
Born on March 22, 1965, in Lexington, North Carolina, Richard Kevin Harrison is the son of Richard Benjamin Harrison Jr. and Joanne Harrison, making him the third of their four children. He had an older sister, Sherry, who tragically passed away at the age of six, as well as an older brother, Joseph, and a younger brother, Chris. His father is a U.S. Navy veteran. When Harrison was just two years old, the family relocated to San Diego due to his father’s military transfer. Starting at eight years old, Harrison experienced epileptic seizures, which often left him bedridden, nurturing a deep passion for reading. Although he attended Taft Middle School in San Diego, he dropped out during his sophomore year to chase his entrepreneurial venture selling fake Gucci bags for $2,000 a week. The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in April 1981.
Career
Upon settling in Las Vegas, Harrison’s father opened a secondhand store in 1981. The original Gold & Silver Coin Shop operated from a small 300-square-foot location on Las Vegas Boulevard. During the day, Harrison worked in the shop, and at night, he repossessed vehicles. In 1986, they expanded to a larger location in downtown Las Vegas, but lost their lease by 1988. Subsequently, they relocated to a new commercial facility on Las Vegas Boulevard. For years, Harrison and his father had considered transforming the coin shop into a pawnshop, feeling it was a natural progression for their business. However, a Las Vegas ordinance from 1955 complicated this process, as new pawn shop licenses were limited by the city’s population. By 1988, Las Vegas had grown to over 640,000 residents. Each week, Harrison called the city’s statistician to monitor the population, waiting until it hit the necessary threshold for a pawn license. This happened the following year in 1989, when they finally opened the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, close to the Las Vegas Strip. They co-managed the shop until his father’s death in 2018.
By 2005, the Harrisons were lending out approximately $3 million annually, which yielded around $700,000 in income from interest. As of 2006, the pawn shop gained recognition for unique sports memorabilia and became a go-to spot for gamblers needing quick cash for gas to return home.
After being featured in a 2001 PBS documentary and on the Comedy Central series Insomniac with Dave Attell in 2003, Harrison spent four years pitching a television show based on his pawnshop. The idea was considered by HBO and YouTube before it was developed into the widely popular Pawn Stars on the History Channel, which premiered in July 2009 and, as of June 2023, has aired 21 seasons and 633 episodes. It is the most popular show on the History Channel, leading to unusual renewals of 80 episodes at a time.
Rick’s son, Corey Harrison, currently works at the store and appears on the show alongside his childhood friend Austin “Chumlee” Russell. On the show, Rick is referred to as “The Spotter,” highlighting his keen insight into undervalued items.

Personal Life
At the age of 17, Harrison’s girlfriend, Kim, became pregnant. Although they faced a miscarriage, they decided to marry, and their first child, Corey, was born on April 27, 1983. Two years later, they welcomed their second child, Adam, but soon after, Harrison and Kim separated.
After nine months, Harrison met Tracy, who would become his second wife, on a blind double date. They moved in together after six months of dating and married eight months later, taking on the responsibility of raising Corey and Adam, but eventually divorced.
In 2012, Harrison announced his engagement to Deanna Burditt, also twice divorced, and they married on July 21, 2013, in Laguna Beach, California. The couple divorced in September 2020, and he married Amanda Palmer in 2021.
Harrison has shown an interest in politics, contemplating a gubernatorial run in Nevada in 2022 and considering a bid for the U.S. Senate in 2024.
Lawsuit
Following the death of Richard Harrison, known as “The Old Man,” in 2018, Rick’s mother, Joanne, initiated a lawsuit concerning family assets and the ownership of their Las Vegas pawn shop. The lawsuit claims that while she was hospitalized in 2000/2001, Rick had her sign over her 51% stake in the business. It contends that upon Richard’s passing in 2018, Joanne inherited his 49% share, but Rick supposedly has not provided full financial documentation for the business. Joanne further claims she is unable to obtain an accurate account of more than $500,000 in cash and silver that she believes her husband amassed before his death. She seeks unspecified damages, a detailed accounting of assets, and a court ruling prohibiting Rick from using her funds, as well as a “constructive trust” over her properties.
Real Estate
In 2019, Harrison put his Red Rock Country Clubhouse, located in Summerlin, Las Vegas, on the market for $3.99 million. The 8,845-square-foot home, constructed in 2001, was purchased by him in 2016 for renovations that cost roughly $600,000. Notable features include granite flooring in the formal sitting room, made from acid-washed planks and installed like hardwood at a cost of $45,000. The house includes two bedrooms on the lower floor and two on the upper floor, plus a gym that can serve as a bedroom. It has seven bathrooms, a 12-seat home theater equipped with a 150-inch screen and curtain, and a wine cellar with the capacity for over 1,000 bottles. This residence also boasts an elevator and a sound system that allows music to be played in any room via a phone connection.
With views overlooking Red Rock Canyon’s Spring Mountains at the front, the backyard offers stunning sights of the Strip as well as vistas of the Arroyo.
Golf Club offers a game room located upstairs, featuring a balcony at the back of the residence. The backyard is designed with a lagoon-style pool, an elevated spa, and a gate providing access to the golf course. Additionally, it boasts a 10-foot waterfall and a lazy river that flows into the pool. An outdoor kitchen is also present in the backyard. Harrison selected this neighborhood because their children attended high school in the surrounding area, but now that the kids have grown up, the extra space is no longer necessary.
