Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, known as Future, was born on November 20, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned the nickname “The Future” upon joining the music collective known as The Dungeon Family. Encouraged by his cousin Rico Wade, a member and producer within the collective, Future honed his songwriting and rapping skills, leading him toward a career in music. Wade also provided Future with an escape from street life. Over the years, Future has acknowledged his cousin as the creative force behind his unique musical style.

Musical Journey

Beginning in 2010, Future began his mixtape journey with releases such as “1000,” “Dirty Sprite,” and “True Story.” He collaborated with Gucci Mane for the mixtape “Free Bricks.” His rise to popularity accelerated when DJ Esco started playing Future’s music at Magic City, a well-known Atlanta strip club, which has been the launching pad for numerous Atlanta rappers. In the fall of 2011, Epic Records approached Future, leading to a swift signing and the release of the successful mixtape “Streetz Calling.” His debut album, “Pluto,” came out in spring 2012 and featured four popular singles, including “Turn on the Lights,” which peaked at number two on the U.S. hip-hop and R&B charts. In 2014, he released his second album, “Honest,” followed by “DS2” in 2015 and “Evol” in 2016. In February 2017, he launched the album “FUTURE,” followed closely by “HNDRXX” the following week.

In mid-October 2018, Future collaborated with the late rapper Juice Wrld to release the mixtape “Wrld on Drugs,” which debuted at number two on the U.S. charts, trailing the Bradley Cooper–Lady Gaga soundtrack for “A Star Is Born.” This became Future’s 10th album to enter the U.S. top 10. He followed this with “Future Hndrxx Presents: The Wizrd” in January 2019, marking his seventh studio album as well as the soundtrack for the forthcoming film “The Wizrd,” available on Apple Music on January 11, 2019.

Life Outside Music

As of this writing, Future is reported to have seven… potentially eight… children by seven… possibly eight… different women, including Jessica Smith, Brittni Mealy, India J, Ciara, and Joie Chavis. He was engaged to Ciara from 2013 to 2014, but their relationship ended due to alleged infidelity on his part. Future and Ciara share a son, Future Zahir Wilburn, born in May 2014.

Future has faced legal actions from both Jessica Smith and Ciara. Smith has filed a lawsuit against him for failing to provide child support and neglecting their child. Ciara initiated a lawsuit for defamation, slander, and libel regarding a series of Tweets in which he criticized her and complained about his visitation rights.

In 2019, Eliza Seraphin, also known as Eliza Reign, from Florida, and Cindy Parker from Texas each separately…
filed paternity suits against Future. Initially, Future reportedly objected to taking a DNA test. Throughout the pregnancy, Seraphin asserted that Future maintained communication with her. She recounted how he asked to be informed when the baby arrived and assured her he would provide financial support for the child. In response, Future filed a counter-suit against Eliza Seraphin, alleging fraud and requesting a gag order enforced by the court. In March 2024, Eliza and Cindy shared a DNA test result on social media, claiming a 99.9% probability that the children are half-siblings.

Future was in a relationship with Lori Harvey, who is the daughter of television host and comedian Steve Harvey, from 2019 to 2020. Although the couple broke up in August 2020, they have recently been spotted together in 2022.

Between September 2017 and September 2018, Future earned $30 million through various sources including touring, endorsements, and royalties.
